Afternoon Box Score: White Sox Sweep Twins, Cubs Streak Ends

Let's start at Wrigley Field where the Cubs' seven game winning streak came to an end. Drew Stubbs, Todd Frazier and Edgar Renteria all homered off of Randy Wells, who Mike Quade kept on the mound for seven innings. Wells was still in line for the win, courtesy of five runs scored by the Cubs in the sixth and seventh innings. But Sean Marshall gave up the deciding runs in the eighth inning to take the loss. Starlin Castro homered for the Cubs and hit a double and two RBI for the Cubs.
The last time the White Sox visited Target Field we called it a Twins Cities Elegy. This time it was the Twins who had reasons for doubt as the South Side Nine swept them in Minnesota for the first time since 2004. Jake Peavy struck out six and only allowed three hits in eight innings in his best start since May and had plenty of offensive help with home runs by Brent Lillibridge, Paul Konerko, Brent Morel and Alexei Ramirez.
