Film

Jig is a documentary that chronicles the 2010 World Irish Dancing championships in Glasgow, Scotland, the tiny dancers in their wigs, bronzer and costumes and the struggles and relationships among them. The film has a screening at Facets (1517 W. Fullerton) at 7 and 9 p.m.

Music

Conflux's music combines meticulous classical composition, loose jazz improvisation, and raw heavy metal brutality into a deeply sophisticated but widely accessible sound that appeals to both cerebral progressive music fans and people who just want to dance. Conflux headlines a triple bill at Martyrs' tonight that includes Ambassadors to Earth and The Regulators. (3855 N. Lincoln, 8 p.m., $7)

Visit a Zoo

With the new school year set to commence, take your kids to Brookfield Zoo today, tomorrow and Wednesday. Children ages 11 and under receive free admission.
