The highlight of the Silent Film Society of Chicago's ongoing "Silent Summer" film festival is tonight's screening of F.W. Murnau's Sunrise. One of the best films of the Silent area, the Silent Film Society will screen a 35 mm print from the Museum of Modern Art with live photoplay accompaniment from the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra. (Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., 8 p.m., $17)
Art Walk
The monthly Pilsen Second Fridays Art Walk kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. along the Podmajersky art district on Halsted, between 18th Street and Canalport.
Magazine Release
Friends of Chicagoist MAKE: A Chicago Literary Magazine celebrates the release of Green Gospel, the debut novel of associate fiction editor L.C. Fiore, at Gentner Gallery (228 W. Kinzie, 2nd Floor) tonight at 6 p.m. Firoe will be reading from his book. MAKE contributing editor Lindsay Hunter will also read, while Steven Hendershot of The Spares will provide music.
