If you're visiting Lincoln Park Zoo this weekend and see a group of people building a nest on the zoo's main mall, that's part of a television program.
National Geographic's Nat Geo Wild is building a hummingbird nest for their Live Like an Animal program, debuting on cable in 2012. If construction moves smoothly the 5-1/2 foot diameter nest should be ready for hosts Lloyd Buck, Matt Thompson and James Cooper to enter, where they'll stay for a 24-hour period.
Chicago is only the third location where a scale model of animal architecture has been built for Live Like an Animal, the other two locations being London and New York. (We've included a photo of a beaver dam Nat Geo Wild built previously). The hummingbird nest should be interesting; in the wild, they only measure the diameter of a penny.
