Obama’s Fantasy Football: Make Aaron Rodgers a Bear

With the first Bears exhibition game tonight, you can bet gaggles of fantasy football heads are taking that as a sign to squirrel away in basements around town to cram for their drafts. They are not alone. Barack Obama clearly has fantasy football on his brain, too, but when you are the most powerful man on the planet, that takes a different form. Thankfully, he is still a Bears fan, so all that clout can go to good use.
This week the Green Bay Packers made their rightful victory lap to the White House in celebration of last season’s Super Bowl win. As part of the celebration, Packers player Charles Woodson awarded Obama with a share in the team (hey, say what you will about the Pack, but we think it's pretty cool that they are the only publicly owned team in the NFL). Without missing a beat, the President proposed sending the Packers’ all-pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Bears (the Trib’s Brad Biggs reports Obama later clarified that Rodgers’ role would be to back up Jay Cutler . Uh, right). Now that is real fantasy football but while the President is at it, can he force the Lions to send us Calvin Johnson too?
