Starlin Castro may be the Cubs’ best off season pick-up as he once again helps boost the Cubs to a win with four hits and two RBIs in the outing against the Braves on Saturday. Dan Uggla also homered in the game to extend his hitting streak to 33 games. Despite a shaky closing, Marmol helped secure the win for Randy Wells as the Cubs win 10 of their last 13. As far as Carlos Zambrano goes, the Cubs’ general manager, Jim Hendry, announced he will be placed on the disqualified list and is on 30-day unpaid suspension.
Two rain delays gave the Sox a fresh start at home on Saturday as they win their first home game in seven games at U.S. Cellular. Of course an unflappable Jake Peavy, who only gave up four runs in 6 innings and some change, and a hard hitting Paul Konerko didn’t hurt either. Konerko hit a two-run homer in the third inning to take the lead, followed by a Tyler Flowers solo shot in the fifth to keep the Sox within reach for the win. Flowers said it had just been “bad luck at home,” but, thankfully, even bad luck runs out, guys.
