Happy Birthday, Pastoral
Seven years ago today, Pastoral opened the doors at its flagship store in Lakeview. With locations in the Loop and at the Chicago French Market, it's safe to say they've done well in those years. To express their gratitude for your continued support, they're hosting a free anniversary celebration at their Lakeview store (2945 N. Broadway) with some of their favorite cheese trays, a few bottles of bubbly and welcoming regulars and new fans alike.
Sliders and Beer
Sheffield's is hosting a beer and slider pairing today, featuring three different Bell's beers with gourmet sliders. Choose from Prime Rib Slider with Bell's Porter and Sheffield's House Smoked Beef Brisket with Bell's Amber; Meatloaf Slider with Bell's Kalamazoo Stout and Pico de Gallo Burger with Bell's Golden Rye; and Fried Buffalo Chicken Slider with Bell's Pale Ale andItalian Beef Slider with Two Hearted IPA. Each group is $12. (3258 N. Sheffield, 6-10 p.m.)
Previews for the world premiere of For the Boys begin tonight at The Marriott Theatre (10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire). Based on the 1991 20th Century Fox film which starred Bette Midler (who earned an Academy Award nomination for her role as Dixie Leonard) and James Caan, the play covers the relationship between Leonard and showman Eddie Sparks as they entertain troops from World War II through Vietnam. For the Boys opens officially August 26 and runs through October 16.
