Nonprofit organization Purple Asparagus will hold its seventh annual "Corks and Crayons" benefit on Sunday, August 28 to raise money to educate families on the importance of healthy, sustainable eating. The event at Uncommon Ground in Edgewater will include a raffle and beverages from Candid Wines and Three Floyds Brewery, as well as a tour of Uncommon Grounds' organic rooftop produce garden. The event also includes a mini farmers' market and musical performances from the Old Town School of Folk music. Bring the kids, and they can learn a few things at the Kohl Foundation Storybook bus and the Truck Farm Chicago.

Can't make it to the event? Check out the silent auction. Prizes include a Koval distillery tour, babysitters, Adler Planetarium memberships and cooking lessons.

Corks and Crayons, Sunday, August 28, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., Uncommon Ground Edgewater, 1401 W. Devon Ave. Tickets can be purchased here.
