Look at the guy above. Doesn't he look kind of like an acid casualty? Not an acid casualty Julian Cope style, he's certainly not that damaged, but there is a buzziness that come through just looking at Adam Granduciel's face that leads you to believe he might be operating on a slightly different place than you or I.
Again, don't misunderstand, The War On Drugs' latest album Slave Ambient is not psychedelic, nor is it some sort of hippy dippy trip. No, when we make references to the music's, um, drugginess it is wholly informed by those moments during the comedown when you're still amped but can feel the corners of perception slowly expanding as they're snapping oh-so slowly back into place.
The War On Drugs is a winner; succumb.
