Morning Box Score: Cubs Lose Focus, White Sox Trying to Stay Even

By Tim Bearden in News on Aug 27, 2011 2:00PM

Brewers 5, Cubs 2

The Cubs are struggling in more ways than one. Not only are they having trouble landing a General Manager for their mediocre clubs, but also they can't stay consistent. Friday night crucial errors beat the Cubs, not the Brewers. Ryan Braun began the scoring tirade against the Cubs in the fifth when Darwin Barney overthrew the ball causing Braun to score, along with two additional runs. If the Cubs ever needed leadership, now is the time.

White Sox 4, Mariners 2

The White Sox are trying to keep their record within reach of .500 as they rallied to beat the Mariners on Friday night. Jake Peavy pitched six innings and got his second win since June thanks to Brent Lillibridge. Lillibridge, who reportedly grew up a Mariners fan, homered against his favorite team in their home stadium snapping a tie and helping the Sox propel to victory.
