It's New to Us: Alternate Histories Prints [UPDATE]

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Aug 29, 2011 7:54PM

Alternate Histories is the brainchild of Pittsburgh artist Matthew Buchholz, who has taken his love of history, art and science fiction to create a past that never existed.

Buchholz uses entirely digital sources to refashion archival images to include monsters and science fiction elements. The results include a Chicago in the 1820s with dinosaurs, a Great Chicago Fire caused by UFo weaponry and a rampaging, steam-powered "Colum-Bot" at the World's Columbian Exposition.

Update: Buchholz dropped us a line asking if we'd let readers know he'll be in Chicago Sept. 10-11 for Renegade Craft Fair. You can buy your prints directly from him there. [via]
