October Showtimes for The Interrupters Announced

2011_8_22_interrupters.jpg Not able to catch The Interrupters when it screened at the Siskel this month? Well, you're in good company--as we posted previously, most shows were sold out in advance, making the documentary the Siskel's new all-time box office champ.

Its success thus far is thrilling, and new showtimes for a return engagement have just been announced. The Siskel will host a two-week run (rare for the theatre) October 7-20, with one or two screenings daily. Filmmakers and/or guests will appear at selected times, details to be announced later. The Thursday, October 20 show will benefit CeaseFire, with the entire share of the box office will be going to the anti-violence organization profiled in the movie.

Documentary film group Kartemquin Films, celebrating their 45th anniversary, is certainly having a banner year. The overwhelmingly positive response of The Interrupters bodes well for their future. On September 15 they're throwing a party at the Metro to celebrate. Cocktails, nibbles, and an exclusive sneak peek at 2012's releases should make for a great evening. Tickets start at $75.
