Morning Box Score: Sox Blank Twins, Unlucky 13 for Cubs

Jake Peavy possibly made his final start of the season last night. If he did, he went out on a high note, tossing 6-2/3 innings of shutout ball and striking out a season-high nine in the process. Peavy has been a work in progress coming off shoulder surgery last season, trying to find some semblance of the dominance that led GM Kenny Williams to trade for him two years ago. Shutting his season down early could help him get a head start on the 2012 season. Alex Rios connected on his ninth home run of the season for the Sox, while Sergio Santos earned save number 29 on the season.
Cincinnati 4, Cubs 2 (13 Innings)
Here was a game that didn't look as though the Cubs would be able to send into extra innings early on. Reds starter Mike Leake retired 18 of the first 19 hitters he faced and was dealing a one-hitter heading into the ninth inning. Then the Cubs remembered they can place bat to ball. New callup Bryan LaHair hit a two-run home run to send the game into extras. LaHair's homer wound up being the only scoring for the Cubs and it seemed that way for both teams before Cubs reliever John Grabow allowed two runs to score in the 13th inning.
