German American Fest is hitting Lincoln Square this weekend. Tonight's Bell's Oktoberfest tasting event atop the roof of Gene's Sausage Shop (4750 N. Lincoln Ave.) is a good primer for that. The event runs from 5-8 p.m.

Food/Discussion

If you’re interested in the lives and experiences of women in the food world (an under-covered topic, to be sure) you might want to drop your plans for tonight and buy tickets to “Chicago Women Leading Culinary: A Celebration” at Vermillion. A panel of women, including Deann Bayless, Miae Lim (owner of Japonais), Alpana Singh, and Illinois Restaurant Association president Sheila O’Grady join Vermillion owner Rohini Dey for a discussion and 4-course meal. Tickets cost $75 and are still available. The event begins at 6 p.m. (10 W. Hubbard St.)

Music

If you're a Jamiroquai fan (we know you're out there), head to the Shrine tonight. DJ Leonard Part Sixx will jam the hits, b-sides, re-mixes, rarities and more. (2109 S. Wabash, 8 p.m. - close)
