Art

Here's a good excuse to play hooky today. Head to the Art Institute for an introductory tour through the museum's collection in today's "Gallery Talk". Hearing Colors and Seeing Sounds—Synaesthesia in Art runs from 2-2:30 p.m. today at the Art Institute's Griffin Court and is free with admission.

Th!nkArt Salon, Chicago’s international art gallery and policy salon presents An Alternate Reality, an exhibition featuring digital paintings by John Miller and new works on paper by Adam Clement. The exhibition features two different but complimentary perspectives on abstraction: Miller maps out urban life through clashing abstract and de-contextualized forms, while Clement demonstrates subtractive abstraction, forms and shapes stripped down to their bare essentials are placed in juxtaposition of space and color. The show opens tonight 5-9 p.m. and runs through Oct. 13 at Th!nkArt Salon (670 W. Hubbard). Miller and Clement will be present at the opening reception.
