Laptop Thief Leaves Easy Trail to Follow

A Berwyn man with a history of burglary made it easy for police to find him. Dominick Harvey, 43, was arrested on two separate charges of residential burglary in Riverside. The burglaries occurred in August. During one burglary Harvey took his picture on an Apple Macbook Pro. When police recovered the computer, Harvey's photo was still on the hard drive, making it easy to identify him and to a background check. Per the Bright One:

Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel said, “This arrest was a prime example of the community, local businesses and police tactical units working together to apprehend this offender. Immediately after the photo was made public, we had several leads in the case. We had him identified 15 minutes after his photo was made public.”

Of course, it may have been a bit harder to track Harvey down had he not left a calling card on the laptop.
