SpeakEasy's First Anniversary Party

2011_9_speakeasy_flyer.jpgThe folks behind SpeakEasy, Chicago's monthly, password-protected roving music/cocktail party, have announced details for their first anniversary celebration. Set to take place Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 8 p.m. to midnight, this month's SpeakEasy affair will differ slightly in format from past installments; every attendee will need to purchase a ticket ($25) to gain entry. But it wouldn't be a SpeakEasy without some tasty, original drinks. Once inside, complimentary Champagne cocktails, mixed by guest bartender Dante LoPresti, will be flowing alongside hors d'oeuvres by OpenTable Catering.

Each SpeakEasy social has been commemorated with original poster art that captured the evening's theme (New Orleans, the Harlem Renaissance). On Wednesday all 12 SpeakEasy posters will be framed and available for purchase. They'll also be giving away the entire set to one lucky guest.

Unlike SpeakEasies past, the first anniversary will be held not at a bar but a gallery - a more fitting venue given the festivities planned. The Silver Room in Wicker Park will play host this time around. Typically, invitees can bring along just one guest, but on this occasion SpeakEasy is open to anyone who holds a ticket (available online and at the door, space permitting).

The Silver Room is located at 1442 N. Milwaukee Ave.
