The Hideout Block Party is back after a two-year hiatus and this year's lineup is a doozy. For this year's edition the Hideout pulled in a few marquee names that have personal connections not only to Chicago but to the venue itself.

Though we've heard rumors that he's been camping out in sunny California for a while, most of us still associate Andrew Bird with Chicago. Bird has been a frequent performer at the Hideout since before his days as a solo act and recorded a charming video at Hideout for his single "Fitz and the Dizzyspells" from 2009's Noble Beast.

Chicago's reigning queen of soul, Mavis Staples, recorded the live album Hope at the Hideout at the venue in 2009, nabbing a Grammy nod. It was at that performance where Staples linked up with Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. Tweedy went on to produce last year's stellar You Are Not Alone, which won Staples her first Grammy ever, in the category for Best Americana Album.

Though Big Freedia had to cancel all her upcoming shows, this year the headliners are joined by other choice acts like brother and sister garage rock duo, White Mystery, atmospheric electronic artist Dosh and--wait for it--Booker T. Jones (of Booker T. and the MGs). Come on folks, do we really need to tell you how good this party's going to be?

In addition to music the Block Party will have food, kid-friendly events, art for sale and plenty of good people from the Hideout family. Catch this one-day shindig and consider your summer music fest duties officially done.
