Rodrigo Lopez pitched six solid innings to keep the Cubs above the Cardinals 2-0. Then Carlos Marmol took the mound. With two outs left in the ninth Marmol walked Cardinals pinch-hitter Ryan Theriot to force in the tying run. Marmol's final mistake came from a wild pitch allowing pinch-runner Adron Chambers to score the winning run and give the Cardinals their third walk off victory against the Cubs this season. Starlin Castro extended his streak of reaching base to 36 games notching the Cubs' longest such streak since Jerome Walton had 43 in 1989.
White Sox 6, Royals 3
John Danks has had a rough season. He started it 0-8 with a 5.25 ERA. Saturday night he improved to 5-0 in his last 12 outings against the Royals and only allowed three runs and six hits in a little over seven innings of work. Alex Rios and Brent Morel both homered to help the Sox end their homestand skid of five consecutive losses.

It was a barn burner for Illinois on Saturday as they faced unranked opponent Western Michigan at Memorial Stadium in a come from behind win. They extended their winning record to 4-0, all home games, and served revenge to a team that drove them into the ground in 2010. Donovonn Young, was the talk of the game with 100 rushing yards in 12 carries and one touchdown to help the Illini stay undefeated.

Notre Dame improved to 2-2 after beating Pittsburgh on Saturday. Tommy Rees seemed to be a tackling dummy for Pitt in the first 45 minutes of the game. On the final drive, it was Rees who had the final shots going 8-for-8 in the drive with a six yard touchdown pass to Tyler Eifert to give the Irish their second straight win.
