Afternoon Box Score: White Sox Loss Ends Season

Well one of Our Town's baseball teams can finally call it a year. Even with Don Cooper at the helm the combination of a lack of timely hitting and a relief corps meltdown when it was least expected served to end the White Sox' season four game under .500. Philip Humber pitched magnificently, striking out nine Blue Jays in 6-2/3 innings of one-run ball while a Gordon Beckham solo homer and Alexei Ramirez RBI had Humber in position for the win.
Then Chris Sale came in during the ninth inning and walked home the tying and winning runs for Toronto. The shifting winds at 35th and Shields continued today. Hitting coach Greg Walker turned in his resignation. Given the way Sox hitters have performed the past three seasons, some fans may feel Walker's resignation is overdue.
