Film Fest
The 47th annual Chicago International Film Festival got underway last night. Rob and Steven both offered recommendations for the festival. The full festival schedule is available here and runs through Oct. 20.
The Occupy Chicago protestors have a another film screening this evening. This time Chris Marker's A Grin Without a Cat, an epic film-essay of the Cold War-influenced skirmishes of the 60s and 70s, will screen at the so-called "Bank of America Occupied Cinema" at 9 p.m. (231 S. LaSalle St.)
Art Walk
The second annual North Park Art Walk opens this weekend at the intersection of Kedzie and Bryn Mawr, "Chicago's newest emerging art zone." Storefront and warehouse galleries will display and sell new pieces from 40 invited local professional artists plus work from Northeastern Illinois University, North Park University, Chicago Korean-American Art Association, Chicago Mosaic School, Loyola Academy, St. Hilary Elementary School and local residents.
