Morning Box Score: Blackhawks Drop Season Opener

By Chuck Sudo in News on Oct 8, 2011 2:00PM

Dallas 2, Blackhawks 1

With all the free agent acquisitions the Blackhawks brought in during the offseason we didn't expect an immediate gelling with the remaining core of the team that won the 2010 Stanley Cup immediately. The Hawks stumbled out of the gate, telegraphed their power play opportunities and were roughed up last night as they dropped their season opener in Dallas. Corey Crawford kept them in the game with 31 saves and a Nick Leddy slap shot with 14 seconds left in regulation prevented a shutout. What we mainly saw last night was the recipe for the 2010-11 season. The Blackhawks host the Stars in their home opener tonight at the United Center.
