On this date in 1871 the Great Chicago Fire burned itself out, leaving 2,200 acres destroyed, 300 dead, 100,000 homeless and $200 million worth of property destroyed. Now you can relive it from your iPhone.
The Chicago History Museum and Northwestern University have developed an iPhone app that provides users with all the resources they could ever need regarding the fire. The app combines a chronology of the fire and an interactive tour of the fire through the streets of modern-day Chicago.
At 36 MB, this is a huge app. At a cost 99 cents, it's lightweight. Download it here.
