Some of the most treasured movies in our DVD library are deluxe sets from Universal Studios' Classic Monsters collection: Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man and Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Those are just the heavy hitters. Universal produced lesser known horror films during the 1930s that could stand up with those such as The Old Dark House, The Black Cat, The Raven, Murders in the Rue Morgue and Werewolf of London, to name a few. Universal made most of its bones in the 1930s and 40s with monster movies. The 1954 release of Creature from the Black Lagoon gave Universal one last monster franchise as a victory lap.

The Music Box is one of many theaters getting in the Halloween spirit and they're featuring a week-long retrospective of Universal monster movies starting Oct. 21. All the big films in the Universal collection are featured in the 13 film retrospective; Creature will be screened in 3D. Other films in the retrospective include Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Black Cat, It Came From Outer Space in 3D, and an Oct. 27 screening of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, which pairs the monsters with Universal's other money franchise from back in the day.

The full schedule is available here. Passes and single film tickets are now on sale.
