911 Dispatcher Talks Father Through CPR to Save Infant

A 911 dispatcher talked an Elmwood Park father through performing CPR on his infant daughter, who suddenly stopped breathing. Brent Patterson worked with the dispatcher until paramedics arrived, and the three-week old was revived en route to the hospital. The Sun-Times writes:
Nick Risicato, 23, the dispatcher who took their call, said his training in various emergency scenarios immediately took over.

“This is the first (call) I’ve ever taken like this,” he said. “We train for a lot of things, and although this doesn’t happen a lot, we train for it.”

It turns out she stopped breathing because of a congenital brain problem, and baby Amelia went through brain surgery the next day. We hope she has a speedy recovery.
