Olympic athletes John Carlos and Tommie Smith created an iconic sports image when they offered a Black Power salute on the podium while receiving medals for the 200 meter race at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Carlos comes to town this week to promote his new book The John Carlos Story: The Sports Moment That Changed the World. Carlos and Dave Zirin will discuss the book Wednesday at Northwestern University's Harris Hall (Room 107, Evanston campus) 7 p.m. Wednesday. Harris will also be at Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters (930 E. 50th St.) Saturday at 10 a.m. for a presentation and to sign copies of the book.

Film

The Alliance Francaise de Chicago's "Femmes Fatales & Ingénues" retrospective continues Wednesday with a screening of Francois Truffaut's "Jules and Jim" 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. TimeOut Chicago's Hank Sartin will be on hand to discuss the film and admission also gets attendees a complimentary glass of wine. (54 W. Chicago Ave.; $7)

Pizza Pizza

Minna wrote about the free pizza Happy Hour at the Florentine Friday. It's now Monday and you should be taking advantage of it. (JW Marriott Hotel, 151 W. Adams St.; 4-6 p.m.)
