By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 18, 2011 9:30PM

David "Honeyboy" Edwards was the "Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen,” and he passed away on Aug. 29, 2011, at the age of 96. To honor his memory, the folks at Buddy Guy's Legends have put together a show on Wednesday to raise money for the new Honeyboy Edwards Fund For The Blues at the National Blues Museum in St. Louis.

Performers include Johnny Drummer and the Starlighters, Michael Packer Blues Band, Sanctified Grumblers, Paul Kaye, Fruteland Jackson, Fernando Jones, Rob Stone, Billy Branch, Rick Sherry & Eric Noden, Liz Mandeville and Albert Bashor.

Regular admission to the event is $20. A $75 donation includes access to a VIP reception before the main event, along with an Earwig Records compilation CD and four color photos of Honeyboy. A $100 donation includes the biography, "The World Don't Owe Me Nothing" or "Honeyboy - The History of the Blues" featuring Keith Richards, Robert Cray, Joe Perry, and Lucinda Williams by Chicago producer/director Scott Taradash.

A few things about the legendary Edwards: He toured with "Sweet Home Chicago" songwriter Robert Johnson and was with Johnson the night he was murdered. Edwards was a regular at the Hideout. He also played alongside Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters. Read more about him in his obituary in the New York Times, or watch his 2008 interview with WBEZ posted below.
