Jeff Tweedy Supports Occupy Wall Street, Makes Future Rahm For Mayor Fundraisers Really Awkward

By Jon Graef in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 21, 2011 7:20PM

Good news abounds in the Wilco camp as of late: The Chicago fivesome released its most satisfying, artistically adventurous album in a decade, they'll be playing five shows this December in the city of wind, and frontman Jeff Tweedy recently co-signed the Occupy Wall Street movement. Via Wilco's site [tip o' the hat to P4K]:

Occupy Wall Street is the best example of democracy in action we've seen around here in a long time. I'm inspired by their willingness to stand up and make themselves heard. I really hope it continues to grow and spread and inspires you, too. History shows pretty consistently that no positive change comes from people sitting on their asses.

Which is great! But while Tweedy's statement was about the movement as a whole, and not about its City of Big Shoulders offshoot, we can't help but think Tweedy has inadvertently made any future Rahm fundraisers he plays pretty awkward.

"Hey Rahm, what's your take on the Occupy movement?"
"... [rage]"

But hey! Rahm's a fan. Maybe Tweedy can get him to have a more sympathetic ear. [Comments like these are at least a start]. Tweedy's got some big hurdles to clear, but he can do it, can't he?

What say you, mild-mannered commentariat?
