30 Beers For 60 Minutes

2011_10_26neofuturists.jpg More accurately, it's More Than 30 Beers For A Few Hours, but that doesn't sound as catchy. In any case, the Neo-Futurists are turning to several local breweries for their next fundraiser.

The venerable, perpetually underappreciated theater company is of course home to Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind. Running continuously since 1988, it's Chicago's longest running show. But they also have a regular "prime time" season which takes the Neo-ethic and applies it to long-form pieces.

The Neoccasion: 30 Beers for 60 Minutes on November 11 will feature enough beer geekery and fun performances to satisfy the thirstiest theater lover. The evening will include a tasting of more than 30 local and regional craft brews, plentiful varieties of Chicago's finest pizzas, a 30 minute beer-themed performance, and a live auction with brewery tours, home brew-kits and other cool prizes. Participating breweries include 5 Rabbit, Argus, Finch’s, Goose Island, Half Acre, Hamburger Mary’s, Haymarket, Metropolitan, New Glarus, Stone, Three Floyds, and others.

Tickets range from $79.77 (a penny-a-play for the 7,797 World Premiere plays produced by The Neo-Futurists) to the lavish Benefactor Sponsor at $1,000; the latter includes six admissions to the benefit, preferred seating, two tickets redeemable for admission to any Neo-Futurist production, and year-long donor roll listing in all programs. The benefit is a great chance to support the Neo-Futurists while sampling the wares of local and regional micro-breweries. Sounds like a win-win situation to us!

The Neo-Futurarium is located at 5153 N Ashland Ave.
