Every year, restaurants and chefs team up with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help "86 Hunger." This year, they need the help more than ever. As we learned last month, there are almost 900,000 food insecure people in Cook County - in some neighborhoods, as much as 30% of the population is food insecure. If you want to make your charitable donation go a very long way, buy a ticket for the 86 Hunger dinner - the GFCD distributed 66 million pounds of food last year. Next Monday at Naha, Chef Carrie Nahabedian (a Chicagoist favorite) is cooking up an amazing meal - and you should be there.
We went to last year's 86 Hunger dinner at Naha, and it was easily one of the top 5 meals we ate in 2010. The menu this time looks better than ever.
