Roommate The Video! And The Remix!

By Jon Graef in Arts & Entertainment on Nov 1, 2011 7:20PM

2011_11_Roommate.jpg Chicago dream-pop outfit Roommate, whose 2011 album Guilty Rainbow recalls positively both Air and Beach House, have released a new video for opening cut "My Bad," for which there is also a remix. The video below, created by Michael Broers, was uploaded on Halloween.

Which is appropriate, given the clip's combination of autumnal colors and hallucinatory, spectral visuals. But, if that isn't spooky enough, then the "My Bad" remix, also done by Broers with darkwave synth maestro Michael Perkins as the MR666 duo, should do the trick (or treat, as it were). The evocative remix recalls vintage 80s synth scores done by filmmaker John Carpenter, and prog group Goblin.

Roommate have two live dates approaching: The first, this Thursday, November 3, is a stripped-down duo version of the group who'll appear at Comfort Station in Logan Square. The next will be a show with the full band at The Burlington on December 3.
