Police are seeking help in the investigation of the murder of a 14-year-old Indian Head Park girl after they chased down 100 leads that led to nothing. Kelli O'Laughlin's parents found her dead in their home on Thursday afternoon after she apparently walked in on a burglary. Police are holding a man accused in several area burglaries, but they aren't calling him a suspect. The Tribune writes:
For the first time, (Village Police Chief Frank) Alonzo disclosed Tuesday that Kelli's attacker forced their way into the home through the back, either by a door or window.

He reiterated that police believe the child was killed after interrupting a burglary, but Alonzo would not say whether the attacker may have had any connection to the family or neighborhood.

Police believe a collection of limited edition coins that were stolen in the burglary may be the key to breaking the case. They are offering a $60,000 award for information.
