Morning service on Metra's Milwaukee West line came to a halt this morning after a freight train derailed and caught fire in Bartlett.
The derailment happened around 5:10 a.m. near Spaulding and Gifford roads. At least two cars caught fire, but officials reported no injuries. Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said Metra was running limited one-track service prior to the accident and that trains are being held in Elgin until the crash is cleared.
