Sharon Van Etten (Kim Bellware/Chicagoist)
The sweet songstress is returning to Chicago in February for a pair of shows at Lincoln Hall. When we saw Van Etten play there back in April, she impressed us with her sweet, honest voice and a surprise cover of a cover of Fine Young Cannibals' “She Drives Me Crazy.” Tickets go on sale on Friday, Nov. 11 at noon.
Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave, Feb. 16 & 17, 10 p.m., $15, 21+
Wild Flag
The raucous new project of Sleater-Kinney, Helium and Minders rockers is coming to the Metro in April. We saw them tear up the stage at Wicker Park Fest this summer, and we heard good things about the two shows they played at the Empty Bottle in October. Their self-titled album has been in heavy rotation on our turntables this fall. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Nov. 12 at noon.
Metro, 3730 N. Clark St, April 5, 18+
Jeff Mangum
We warned you about this one earlier this week, but what kind of friends would we be if we didn't hammer the point home? Mangum hasn't officially played a show in Chicago since he played one with Neutral Milk Hotel back in 1998. Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday, Nov. 11.
Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N Southport Ave, Feb. 6 & 7, 6:30 p.m., $38, all ages
