Fairmont Hotel Chicago is gearing up for the 15th Annual Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Grand Chefs Gala by throwing a tea party from 2-4 p.m. Saturday to benefit one of the hotel’s primary charities, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Chef de Cuisine Beverly Kim will delight guests of all ages with dim sum to complement the Asian tea varieties, and will be available throughout the afternoon to discuss her pairing concepts. The event’s menu includes Sweet Dumpling Dumplings, Smoked Rock Shrimp Tempura in a Crispy Lettuce Cup, and Green Tea Mousse Cake Petit fours. A special kids menu offers the little ones to select from Asian A& J with almond butter and plum jelly, Panko Crusted Chicken Fingers with Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce, and Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies. (200 N. Columbus Dr., $35)

Beer

Surly Brewing's Todd Haug returns to Chicago to celebrate the annual release of the Minnesota brewery's Russian Imperial Stout, Darkness, with a release party at Hopleaf tonight from 8-11 p.m. In addition to Darkness, Hopleaf will also have a keg of Surly's Furious and a keg of Damien, a dry-hopped black ale on tap. (5148 N. Clark St.)

Film

The best film value going in town right now is the Portage Theater's free movie screenings. In addition to being free, the Northwest side movie house screens popular favorites such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Sunday's showing of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They also make it easy for you to get tickets. Simply click this link and print out your admission for two. (4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., 2 p.m. Sunday)
