University of Illinois football player Trulon Henry was shot in the hand at a party near the Champaign-Urbana campus over the weekend, where two others were injured. Doctors say it will take at least six to eight weeks for his hand to be fixed, making the starting linebacker unable to play the remaining games of the season and questionable in case of a bowl game.

Henry said he wasn't at the party for fun, and he was there for just three minutes when someone opened fire. Henry is 27 years old, having spent five years in prison before attending school and turning things around. He says he went to the party to pick up younger players on the team after a fight broke out at the party. The Tribune writes:
"Someone called and told me one of the younger guys got beat up and needed a ride home," Henry said with his wife at his bedside. "I was only there for three minutes. I was trying to get everyone in the car. (Someone) started shooting. It's crazy."The bullet entered through his wrist and exited through his ring finger, and Henry remains hospitalized. The condition of the other two victims is not available. Police are still looking for the suspect.
