Flames 5, Blackhawks 2
The Blackhawks couldn't see the smoke for the fire on Friday night against the Calgary Flames. The Hawks were able to keep it tied through the first period, but at the beginning of the second Calgary pulled away with two goals in a 17-second time span to put the Flames ahead by two goals. Marian Hossa and Viktor Stahlberg scored the two Blackhawks' goals for the evening. The Blackhawks had a two man advantage with 2:45 left in the game, but couldn't convert the power play opportunities.
Northwestern 69, Tulsa 65
Northwestern (3-0) continues its bid to be a Big Dance contender this year by topping Tulsa (3-1) on Friday night to advance to the finals of the Charleston Classic against Seton Hall on Sunday night. David Crawford and John Shurna led the Wildcats with 28 and 15 points, respectively. Crawford hit five three-pointers, with the fifth coming in the final minutes of the game to put Northwestern up 62-56. Tulsa came within two, but Shurna scored on a drive to the basket and was fouled to put the Wildcats outside of striking distance from the Golden Hurricanes.
