Back when Fred Armisen was simply the drummer in Trenchmouth we had no idea he'd find greater success as an actor and comedian. Armisen has proven to be one of the few reasons we even tune in to Saturday Night Live any more. We're also fans of Portlandia, his sketch comedy series with former Sleater-Kinney/current Wild Flag member Carrie Brownstein. Portlandia, for all its zaniness, is a loving tribute to the Rose City.

Which is why we're stoked to see Armisen and Brownstein embarking on a Portlandia tour starting next month. The tour only makes seven stops, including a Jan. 18, 2012 stop at Hideout. Armisen and Brownstein will perform sketches, live music, offer a sneak peek at the second season of the series and explain the inspiration of characters like the Sanitation Twins below.
