Track that Truck! Chicago's First Macaron Truck

By Minna A in Food on Nov 22, 2011 5:00PM

Chicago recently welcomed it’s first-ever macaron-only truck into the food truck scene. Operated by a husband and wife duo, the Sweet Spot Macarons truck brings its trendy treats to Chicago’s streets.

Sweet Spot Macarons claims to be the world’s first macaron food truck, giving treat seekers bright, technicolor, delicate macarons. Pastries are prepared by pastry chef Gailt Greenfield, a French Pastry School graduate and once caterer and owner of Sweet Gailt. The choice to solely focus on macarons was not difficult for the chef, who claims that the newly-trending treat “…combines a delicate mixture of textures, flavors and colors that peaks so many senses at once."

Each one-bite (or if you have self-restraint, two-bite) pastry is a mix of textures and flavors, with a flaky shell hugging a chewy center and each bite revealing more of the flavor. The current menu includes salted caramel, passion fruit, pistachio, strawberries and cream and hazelnut. While salted caramel and passion fruit are our favorite flavors, the choice is tough: we recommend you opt for the flight of five and taste them all.

Looking for an alternative Thanksgiving dessert? Sweet Spot Macarons’ flight of macarons, with five different flavors, are perfect for sharing… or hoarding for yourself.
