The Illini are nearing the start of the Big Ten basketball season by feasting on terrible teams like the Cougars. This was a game that was never in doubt as Illinois started the game with a 13-3 roll en route to a 44-19 lead the never relinquished. Five Illini scored in double figures, led by Mike Henry's 14 points, which keyed a 48-point explosion for the Illini bench.
DePaul secured fifth place in the Old Style Classic in Orlando thanks to Cleveland Melvin's 18 points and Melvin Young's 13. Arizona St. played the Blue Demons close throughout the second half and came to within two points with seconds remaining.
Illinois State 75, Bethune-Cookman 51
The Redbirds improved to 3-0 on their home court thanks to Jackie Carmichael's 21 points. Illinois St. shot a team record 64 percent from the field at Redbird Arena; 59 percent from behind the 3-point arc. Jon Ekey and Tyler Brown each added 14 points for the Redbirds.
