A father and his son are due in bond court today after they were arrested and charged with robbing and assaulting a man in Bridgeport Saturday.
Eduardo Castro, Sr., 48, and his son Eduardo, Jr., 24, are alleged to have beaten a man on the 3200 block of South Aberdeen Street, then stole his wallet, cell phone and jacket. According to the Sun-Times, the victim suffered a broken nose and drove himself to a hospital for medical assistance, but was apparently still able to identify his attackers.
The elder Castro is a Chicago firefighter with a salary of over $79,000 a year and has an extensive arrest record of weapon and drug related charges. He was convicted only once, prior to 1995, of unauthorized use of a weapon. Not much is known about Eduardo Castro, Jr., but we're guessing one can draw his own conclusions based on his booking photo.
The question we ask: If Castro, Sr. has an arrest record that indicates this type of repeat behavior (even with a lack of convictions), how did he and why is he still a fireman?
