It's nice to see 47th Ward Ald. Ameya Pawar continuing the Lincoln Square Christkindl Market. Now in its fourth year, the event has become a new tradition for Lincoln Square residents and holiday enthusiasts from across the city.

The three-day event, which kicked off at noon, blends Old World traditions with New World twists to create a unique event that has something for everyone, including Christmas carolers and choirs, local folk musicians and bands, Kids' Korner with St. Nick; young-adult mix and mingle, and perennial favorites hot chocolate, gluhwein, and craft beers.

The market also serves as a marketing tool for Lincoln Square businesses. More than 30 seasonal boutiques will be hawking select wares, including Christmas greenery, ornaments, jewelry, soaps, woolen goods, candies, roasted nuts, baked goods, jellies, and jam. Folks looking to ride the CTA's holiday train, take note: The train is expected to make stops aalong the Brown Line this weekend. Check the Holiday Train schedule to see when it's expected to stop at the Western Avenue Brown Line station.
