It wouldn't be Christmas without someone doing something stupid to a nativity scene. Five sorority sisters at Monmouth College were arrested Friday for pulling a prank by stealing the Tiny Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph and some animals from the nativity scene in downtown Monmouth.

Brittany Smallberger and Emily Triebel, both of Peoria, Cathryn Sargent of Cameron, Korri Crawford of Elmwood, and Samantha Bundy of Mahomet are charged with theft after they took the statues and relocated them to the lawn of university president Mauri Ditzel. Eyewitnesses said the five stopped at the scene after leaving a bar—what a shocker—and were able to identify the maroon SUV they were driving.

Monmouth College, by the way, is where the Pi Beta Phi sorority was founded on April 28, 1867. In 1870, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority was founded at Monmouth in 1870. Several of the ladies charged are Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters.
