Tired of the slow zone on the Blue Line between Damen and Belmont? That may soon be a thing of the past as the Chicago Transit Authority received a $20 million grant to fix that 3.5 mile stretch of track and complete the long repair project along the line ferrying people to the Northwest Side and O'Hare International Airport.
Once the grant is received, work on the slow zones will begin sometime in 2013. CTA had applied for $39.6 million in Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants that were part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
