A few years back the Norwegian Black Metal scene rumbled back to life, becoming both a source of controversy and somewhat of a cultural touchstone. As an expression of an extreme subgenre in the world of heavy metal, Black Metal can be seen as an opposition to society, a confrontation to all the norms of society and culture, and a rejection thereof. Add to that nationalistic ideology, anti-Christian themes and a few church burnings, along with viking imagery, and you've got a subculture surrounded by controversy. Throw in corpse paint, extreme lyrics and shocking stage shows, and cultural crossover success in nearly guaranteed.

Explored extensively by Vice Magazine, and the the subject of a definitive book, knowledge of Norwegian Black Metal as a cultural reference in the West has become not quite critical, but undoubtedly a sign of cultural literacy.

With that in mind, we bring you today a different take on Norther Europe's most recent cultural export, Wham! meets The Black Satans. The original video, The Satan of Hell can be seen here.
