We haven’t heard much from Clip Art since the spring 2010 release of their debut EP Broken By Design. So we’re delighted to hear that the local pop project is kicking off 2012 on a strong note—the band is scheduled to headline a weekly residency at Schubas in January and will bring along a host of local supporting acts.

For those who aren’t familiar, Clip Art is a 4-piece led by Andy Rosenstein (keyboardist of JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound) that delivers soulful, infectious power pop. Our own Tankboy describes their music as “ridiculously catchy and impeccably crafted blasts of ‘70s influenced guitar rock” and that they “inject subtle flourishes into the mix to enhance the craftwork underlying each song. The effect is similar to a dam vibrating as it attempts to keep storm waters whipped by a monsoon at bay.” Check out the video of their debut’s opener "Dead Letter" below and you’ll be hooked too.

The residency will consist of four shows on the last four Mondays of January. For each show, Clip Art will bring along a different set of local acts for support, including Briar Rabbit, Jennifer Hall, and Paper Thick Walls. We’re particularly excited about the first show (Jan. 9), which will feature folk-pop acts Algebro and Any Kind in support of Clip Art. The full residency lineup is listed below, and here's that video:

Clip Art plays Mondays, Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30 at Schubas, 3159 N Southport, 8 p.m., $6, 18+

Clip Art performs:
Jan. 9 with Algebro and Any Kind
Jan. 16 with Dick Prall and Paper Thick Walls
Jan. 23 with Briar Rabbit and The Sometimes Family
Jan. 30 with Baby Teeth and Jennifer Hall
