Rezko Sentenced To Another 7 1/2 Years, But No Extra Jail Time

Tony Rezko has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years for fraud charges, but the former adviser to Rod Blagojevich cut a deal to serve the sentence concurrent with the 10 1/2-year fraud sentence he was sentenced to last month. The Tribune writes:

In return for the concurrent sentence, Rezko agreed to drop his appeal of both convictions, said his attorney, Joseph J. Duffy.

“Mr. Rezko and his family decided they wanted to bring closure to this matter,” Duffy said after the sentencing.

Rezko has already served 3 1/2 years of his sentence and will spend at least another five years in prison.
