Canasta Readies For Tour, Releases New Video

2012_01_03_Canasta.jpg Canasta has been keeping things quiet for some time now—the local orchestral-pop act garnered quite a bit of attention with its impressive, spring 2010 release The Fakeout, The Tease And The Breather, but that buzz soon died down, and we’ve heard little from the group since. Now in 2012, the band is kicking the year off strong with a local show, a Midwest tour and a new music video.

The band will head out to trek the Midwest later this week, but first they’ll kick off the tour with a show tomorrow night at Lincoln Hall. It’s actually a record release show for indie rockers Young Jesus, and Canasta will be playing in support of the headliners. Also performing will be local acts Brontosaurus and Hemmingbirds. Head over to Do312’s invitation page and ‘like’ the event for a chance to win tickets to the show.

Oh, and remember way back in April when Canasta held casting calls for a new music video? We’d forgotten too, but it turns out some music video students at Loyola shot the footage for "Magazine (Songwriter on a Train)” in November for their semester project. Check it out:
