Morning Box Score: Carcillo Penalty Sinks Blackhawks

Edmonton 4, Blackhawks 3

A 9-2 November loss in Edmonton sparked a stellar run by the Blackhawks in December. Here's hoping last night's loss to the Oilers does the same. Daniel Carcillo was the story last night. Carcillo earned a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for boarding Tom Gilbert in the second period. That penalty led to power play goals by Ryan Smyth and Taylor Hall, and Edmonton held on to beat the Blackhawks at the United Center. Carcillo will likely face a suspension for his hit when the NHL reviews the play. Jonathan Toews, Andrew Brunette and Jimmy Hayes each scored for the Blackhawks
