While slain Chicago Police officer Clifton Lewis was laid to rest today, the Police Department was questioning three individuals in his Dec. 29 murder.

CBS 2 is citing sources as saying one has been charged with Lewis's death and another was in custody. Witnesses said that two people were involved in the convenience store robbery where Lewis was working security while off duty the night he was killed.

Police and Mayor Rahm Emanuel went door-t-door yesterday passing out fliers and seeking clues to the murder. At Lewis's funeral this afternoon, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy promised that the culprits would be caught.

“We’re going to get ‘em. Make no mistake.”

When asked if he had evidence to back the claim, McCarthy said, “I have 13,000 Chicago police.”

Lewis's fiancé, Latrice Tucker, also had words for his killers.

“For today and every other day ... the person who was trifling enough and ornery enough to take that person that everyone loved ... It’s not over. It’s not over."

Lewis was a highly decorated policeman, having received 81 commendations from CPD in eight years.
